Get the inside track on the Welcome to York Ebor Festival

The Welcome To Yorkshire Ebor Festival is my favourite week of the year and although the racing is hugely competitive, the challenge of finding winners at good prices remains enormously exciting.

I interviewed David O'Meara on Racing UK at Pontefract on Sunday and the Irishman was very optimistic of a big run from Suedois in the Group Three City Of York Stakes on Friday. Suedois ran a cracker when beaten half a length in the Group Two Lennox Stakes last time.

So Beloved, his stablemate, is closely matched on that Goodwood run and is also expected to go close.

From the same stable, Out Do has a good chance in the extended 5f handicap on Wednesday, especially on fast ground. He's only 5lb above his Wokingham-winning mark.

Mark Johnston's assistant Jock Bennett spoke highly of the stable's Goodwood winners Threading and Dee Ex Bee when I interviewed him at the weekend.

The former was hugely impressive against her own sex on debut and steps up markedly in class in the Group Two Lowther Stakes on Thursday. Dee Ex Bee takes a similar step up in class in the Group Three Acomb Stakes on Wednesday. Both could improve on the better ground.

William Haggas loves to target York and the Newmarket-based Yorkshireman has improved Mojito all season. He will run a massive race in the 1m handicap on Friday provided the ground is on the quick side.

The same is applicable to Dal Harraild, who would relish dry conditions in the Group Two Lonsdale Cup on Friday.
