Friday tips: Yummy looks a tasty proposition

2.50 Wetherby: Slaney Opera

Ruth Jefferson had a couple of well backed runners at the weekend who didn’t deliver.
However, they both ran well and a glance at the stable’s recent runners suggest the yard is very much in form.
Slaney Opera was favourite when pulled up last time out, but the ground was bottomless at Kelso that afternoon and the lightly raced eight-year-old had never encountered such conditions before and I am happy to put a line through that run.
He has been given more than a month to get over that slog and I am taking him to return to the form that saw him win in good style on his previous start. He beat two next-time-out winners on that occasion and the form looks strong in this grade.

3.20 Wetherby: Bras D’Or

This is a cracking handicap with several lightly raced types from big yards lining up. Bras D'Or is owned by J P McManus and makes plenty of appeal.
David Pipe has changed plenty for this race, including upping Bras D’Or in trip, which given he has been placed in points and bumpers strongly suggests will suit him well.
This is the gelding’s first handicap and he could well be off a decent mark.
He appeared to disappoint on heavy ground at Ayr last time but the horses directly in front and behind him won next time out and the form can be upgraded. Pipe is also adding a tongue-tie for this handicap debut, which also looks a positive.

4.50 Wetherby: Yummy

Yummy looks an obvious candidate for improvement here.
Dan Skelton does little by accident and after a few running Yummy over too short a trip - which has led to him ending up with a handicap mark of 80 - he now looks ready to be a winner moving up markedly in distance.
Yummy made his handicap debut last time out but that race was also over the minimum trip and merely confirmed the distance was too short.
He is 2lb lower for this and, with Harry Skelton on board for the first time, an improved run looks likely.
