Friday tips: Ride off in to the Sunset on Swilly

Tom Stanley went close with 33-1 chance Birchwood last week at Glorious Goodwood and had four tips for the action on Friday.
I still haven’t quite got over Birchwood’s late fade last week in the Betfred Mile. I had tipped him a 33-1 and he was sent off at half that but could not hold the late surge of Master The World and Tony Curtis.
Given the sizes of the fields on Friday it is fair to say that my four tips below are all win only. Good luck all.
Swilly Sunset is looking to bring up the four-timer in the ten-furlong handicap at Newmarket and he has proved that ease in the ground is no hindrance to his cause.
A first-time hood was tried at Yarmouth four starts back but duly left off when upped to a mile next time and that trip seems to have made all the difference.
A return to quicker ground has not stopped the improvement and he looks a horse to benefit for even further. He gets that on Friday over 10 furlongs and, against a field who either look exposed, or have something to prove on the ground, his 9lb higher mark should not stop him with Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle.
The fillies’ handicap at Newmarket sees Titi Makfi back after just nine days and she is making her seventh start since the beginning of June.

That will be no concern to Mark Johnston, her trainer, and she ran her best race yet when second to the front-running Billesdon Bess at Goodwood last time.
She goes on the soft ground and returns here off the same mark and is sure to go close again. I like the return to a mile and, for all she was a touch disappointing at the track two starts ago, she will be ridden more prominently here and is a tough, hardy filly.
Kashmiri Sunset was a winner on debut for Iain Jardine, having transferred from Gordon Elliott and he lines up off 1lb higher at Haydock over an extra furlong.

That should suit given the way the gelding finished at Ayr and he is entitled to improve for the effort, given that was his first start in eight and a half months.
He handled soft ground when with Ed de Giles and Elliott and Jardine may just have found himself a good one here that can keep progressing over staying trips.
Over at Musselburgh, Yorkidding returns to turf and if she repeats her Haydock win in May off this mark then she will be tough to beat.
That victory came under a patient ride but it would be no surprise to see a return to prominent tactics and that should suit.
They will have the best of the ground north of the border and, for all I get Johnston horses wrong for fun, their bouncebackability is not to be sniffed at.
She will need that factor after a few below-par runs but has plenty in her favour.
