Under in-form capable 7lb claimer Jake Dickson, Valentine Catcher could be capable of a return to form following a disappointing effort at Redcar when last seen. He had previously stayed on well to finish third to Glorious Kitty in a Carlisle handicap over 7f, suggesting this step up to a mile could well suit.
This is his first try over the trip but he's out of a mile winner in Flycatcher, and is related to a number of horses with form over a similar distance or further, and the extra furlong may benefit him at this stage in his career.
The five-year-old gelding is currently 18lb below his last official win at Nottingham, 9lb lower than when finishing in front but demoted to second at Pontefract last term, when equipped with first-time cheekpieces. He holds each-way claims at the weights if returning to the best of his ability and may be worth keeping the faith in as he seeks a third career success.
Although he's yet to win for current trainer Ian Williams, Dyonisos may be worth keeping onside as he was only narrowly denied from the same mark of 84 by Seven Questions earlier in the campaign, and had previously chased home subsequent King Charles III Stakes fifth Jakajaro, now rated 109, in a Newmarket handicap on reappearance.
In February, the four-year-old son of Goken placed third in a competitive Meydan handicap to subsequent Group Three second Run Boy Run. He has shown snippets of good form and has proved he's capable of competing in tricky, big field contests. Whilst he can be inconsistent, he's a useful performer on his day and this could be a feasible opportunity for him to return to the winners' enclosure.
A three-time winner in France, Dyonisos possesses ability and is currently on a workable mark from which he can, at the very least, make the frame under Eddy Greatrex.
The Hugo Palmer-trained Glacius put in an excellent effort when a strong-finishing third in the Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, outrunning odds of 33-1 to place in Group Three company. The performance could be upgraded and it was an impressive return to action following a 250-day break against race fit rivals.
The son of Too Darn Hot had shaped with promise as a juvenile last term, beating Del Maro on debut at Newmarket before featuring in a noteworthy Listed Haydock contest won by future Classic winner Bow Echo, as well as finishing third to Hankelow in a Group Three.
This is only his fifth career start and, with the benefit of a recent outing now in his favour, there could be plenty more to come from the three-year-old, who holds solid claims under Billy Loughnane and may take a significant step forward from his latest outing.
From a mark of 68, three-year-old filly Seeing Stars is one to note under Harry Davies. She's proven over this trip and remains unexposed in only her seventh career start, a third outing in handicap company.
Trained by William Knight, the daughter of Bated Breath has already shaped with potential and could progress beyond her current rating. She has been beaten less than two-lengths in both handicap starts to date, at Wolverhampton and Wetherby respectively, emerging with credit on both occasions.
At the turn of the year, Seeing Stars chased home subsequent dual Listed-winning Ellusive Butterfly in a Southwell maiden, before getting off the mark at Kempton. There's substance to some of her form and she has shown enough ability to suggest she can return to winning ways from her current rating.
The Kevin Ryan-trained Mon Na Slieve put in a competitive effort at Hamilton when last seen to finish third, beaten only a length by eventual winner Gangsta Man. He runs from an unchanged mark of 78 here, 1lb below his last win, and should be capable of making the frame once again.
Earlier in the season, the five-year-old was only narrowly denied by Pixie Diva from a mark of 80 in a Newcastle handicap, before finishing a creditable fifth to Vantheman in a 13-runner contest subsequently. He has proven form over the distance and has already posed a threat on a few occasions this term, therefore could be worth keeping onside from a workable mark under Tom Eaves.
