Friday tips: Dave Nevison's three best bets

Betting expert Dave Nevison has a trio of fancies at Newmarket and Kempton on Friday, with every race from both meetings live on Racing TV.

3.30 Newmarket: Yabher

I had a decent each-way bet on Yabher at Goodwood last time out and was fully expecting to land at least the place part of the bet when he clipped the heels of one in front of him when making progress in the straight.
He hasn’t raced since and runs off the same mark here, and I would be surprised if he didn’t go close, especially as William Haggas has stepped him up a furlong further in trip.
The Rowley Mile could suit this galloper better than Goodwood; he is described as a good-bodied gelding by Timeform and I am pretty confident he has a future in middle distance handicaps in front of him.

6.45 Kempton: Absolute Star

Roger Varian’s lightly raced four-year-old filly hasn’t quite lived up to her name so far, but has clearly been expected to do so as she has gone off favourite on most of her runs so far.
Absolute Star won over this trip two starts ago at Doncaster on what was her seasonal debut and looked set to progress further, but she disappointed last time out when stepped up two furlongs at the same track.
She is dropped back down to a mile here in a race full of very exposed types. Varian has a terrific record at Kempton and, with Absolute Star already having shown good form on an all-weather surface, I will be surprised if she doesn’t go close after a short break.

8.15 Kempton: Savvy Exchange

Savvy Exchange has only one success to his name - a maiden at Pontefract on his three-year-old debut.
However, he has run very well in several handicaps off much higher marks since then. He had an impossible trip in a competitive 0-85 handicap over this course and distance last time out.
He is now down to his lowest ever handicap mark and running in the lowest grade handicap he has ever contested, and could well be much more at home against this weaker opposition. The booking of Rossa Ryan off also catches the eye.
