3.15 Goodwood: Tropical Storm

Tropical Storm won a Listed race on his second appearance last season and looked as though he was going places. He went straight into the Group One King Charles III at Royal Ascot which was far too great a step up and things didn’t get much better after that.
However, not much went right in pretty much all of his subsequent runs. He showed enough on his reappearance at Musselburgh to suggest he can win in the right grade and this isn’t the strongest of handicaps.
A very strong pace should suit as he should be able to settle just off the pace and given the stable form he should go well.

4.05 Newmarket: Golden Redemption (Nap)

Golden Redemption ran a really strong race over this course on his final start in a race that didn’t go well for him. He was too far back in a race over six furlongs and couldn’t catch the front two who got first run.
He reappeared on the all-weather at Kempton and, once again, things didn’t go well, not least that he got struck into and this time he was lit up by a loose horse, doing too much too soon.
I am hoping Andrew Balding’s lightly raced four-year-old gets a deserved change of luck here and can show himself to be a progressive handicapper.
5.35 Goodwood: Gallivanted

Gallivanted is still very lightly-raced on the Flat compared to most of these but has been very consistent over hurdles this spring since he joined Harry Derham.
He has won a maiden on the Flat and over hurdles, but definitely looks well able to win a turf handicap judged on his recent run at Thirsk.
He was third, beaten less than half a length in an event similar to today’s and was staying on well at the death, looking very much as though this extra two furlongs will suit him very well.
