York preview: Foxtrot Lady aiming to show winning moves in feature

Foxtrot Lady is aiming to go one better than her half-sister Dancing Star in the Pavers Foundation Catherine Memorial Sprint Handicap at York on Saturday.
Trained, like Dancing Star, by Andrew Balding, Foxtrot Lady is progressing at a rate of knots.
Since being beaten by Commonwealth Cup hope Equilateral, she has won easily at Chester and Carlisle, shooting up the handicap as a result.
Dancing Star was similarly progressive at this stage of her career and after being beaten by Mr Lupton in this race, she subsequently went on to win the Stewards’ Cup.
“This is obviously a much tougher race than she’s had the last twice,” said Balding.
“She’s up against the boys as well but she’s improving all the time as her sister (Dancing Star) did at the same stage of her career. I think her sister was second in this (two years ago). I’d hope she’d be very competitive.”
Nigel Tinkler has had this valuable prize in mind for Citron Major for some time.
Having won two of his last three he will have plenty of supporters as a local challenger.
“He has done everything correctly. He is a six-furlong specialist. He went up quite a bit in the handicap after his last run, but he did win quite easily,” said Tinkler.
“He’d have an each-way chance. I think he is in on the upgrade. He’s just a lovely individual – he has got gears.
“Fast ground would be fine but a little bit of rain wouldn’t go amiss. I don’t think it would go amiss for anyone.
“It is a very good race and I think anybody who has a decent horse has this race in the back of their minds from August of their two-year-old career. You think, ‘hang on a sec, this could be a horse for that race’.
“I didn’t get Citron Major until November time but it has been on our mind for a while.”
Clive Cox’s Snazzy Jazzy won his first three starts including a big sales race in Ireland.
He reappeared in the Free Handicap but disappointed.
“He wouldn’t mind a drop of rain,” said Cox.
“We tried him over seven, but he is better just concentrating over six.
“I’ve been pleased with him and he was a very productive horse last year. He is in good form.
“He didn’t get the trip last time and it came a bit early for him, so you can ignore that run.”
