Mia’s Storm made a highly encouraging debut over fences at Chepstow last month when she jumped well to beat the boys. She is taken to follow up in what looks quite a competitive Listed mares chase where her race fitness may be the key to beating last year’s winner Desert Queen.
One of the best AQPS fillies on the Flat in France over the past few years, during which time she won five races including a couple of Grade Two bumpers. Bought by JP McManus, her new trainer Nicky Henderson describes her as “a gorgeous looking filly” and hopes “she can prove something special”.
This daughter of Invincible Spirit has been runner-up in two of her three maiden/novice races and now has her first start in a handicap for Sir Michael Stoute. She was a beaten favourite last time at Kempton but that still her best run to date and it will be disappointing if she is not able to open her account at the expense of several more exposed rivals.
Domitilla comes into this 7f fillies maiden in good form, having been a length second to the John Gosden-trained colt Damocles last week at Kempton, where they pulled well clear of the third. This daughter of Cape Cross can improve from that run as it was her first off a seven-month break and now she is racing against only her own sex. If she returns here in the same form as Kempton last week she will be very hard to beat.
