Dave Nevison, Andy Stephens, Ross Millar, Tom Thurgood and Harry Allwood share selections for the action on Star Sports Brigardier Gerard Evening at Sandown on Thursday, live on Racing TV.

6.05 Sandown: Rockin' The Boat

Best odds: 7-2.
Tipster: Andy Stephens.
His fourth at Newmarket last time needs marking up and the first two home have franked the form with subsequent wins. Ryan Moore resumes the partnership, and he holds strong claims.

6.35 Sandown: Eskimo Pie

Best odds: 14-1.
Tipster: Tom Thurgood.
She ran a good second on debut last time in what's proved a good novice in recent years and the winner this time could be high-class. She is a forward-goer from a favourable low draw and looks overpriced at 14-1 and bigger.

7.35 Sandown: Almaqan

Best odds: 11-4.
Tipster: Harry Allwood.
Looked a potential Group One performer in the making when winning the Star Sports Heron Stakes on this card last year, and performed with credit in Group contests afterwards, all over ten furlongs, including when a narrow second in the Qatar Prix Dollar.
Those efforts are some of the strongest pieces of form on offer here, and he is also the one to beat on ratings. He’s also entitled to strip fitter for his encouraging effort in the bet365 Gordon Richards Stakes over this course and distance on his return where he was a shade unfortunate not to finish second when encountering traffic problems.
The form of that race has worked out well, with See The Fire bolting up at York on her next outing, and Almaqan should have more to offer with just seven starts under his belt.Oisin Murphy has a 24 per cent strike-rate riding for Ed Walker, and is aboard the four-year-old for the first time here, plus there are no ground concerns, so a big run is on the cards.

8.05 Sandown: Matauri Bay

Best odds: 7-1.
Tipster: Ross Millar.
Ross Millar: Lots To Like About Bay

8.40 Sandown: Surrey Shadow

Best odds: 6-1.
Tipster: Dave Nevison.
It is slightly concerning that Surrey Shadow hasn’t been seen since the Spring Mile in March, but his yard is in excellent form, and hopefully the lightly-raced four-year-old arrives here in good form.
Tom Clover’s gelding ran a cracker at Doncaster and definitely didn’t get the best of runs from just after half way, and while he probably isn't the easiest to train, with this contest just his sixth racecourse appearance, he more often than not has looked to have plenty going for him.
With a favourable draw to help him, this race could prove a stepping stone to a big summer handicap (he is in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot).
