€2million Frankel colt Treanmor stars on Debut at Newmarket

Treanmor, Godolphin's €2million Frankel colt, showed a touch of class on his Newmarket debut to confirm his place at Royal Ascot.

Charlie Appleby's juvenile is now as short as 5-1 about winning the Coventry Stakes after landing the six-furlong novice stakes by four lengths.

William Buick's partner (30-100f) had all bases covered from the outset in what looked a decent race that also featured Vlad, the eyecatching runner-up.

Buick told Racing TV: "I'm very pleased with him. We were expected him to run well and he did.

"He's entitled to improve for it, of course, but it's lovely for him to have a run here and come away like that.

"At home, there's never any serious questions asked so you have always have that bit of an unknown when they come to the races first time out."

Buick added: "He's been doing everything right - he's a horse that seems to find stuff quite easily.

"This track, for an inexperienced horse, can be quite challenging. But once he got organised and changed his legs, off he went.

"He qualifies for a Chesham so we'll see where he goes."
