Elliott has Fairyhouse plans for Oldschool Outlaw

Cheltenham Festival runner-up Oldschool Outlaw is being prepared for the Grade One Irish Stallion Farms EBF Honeysuckle Mares Novice Hurdle at the Fairyhouse Irish National meeting.
Gordon Elliott’s charge beat Bambino Fever earlier in the season and had all bar White Noise behind her in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
“Oldschool Outlaw ran very well at Cheltenham, she just got a bit too far back and the ground wasn’t soft enough for her on the day,” said Elliott.
“If the ground is soft I think she could be dangerous. She’s going the right way, that was a career best at Cheltenham.”
Another classy entry in the race for Elliott is the four-year-old Mage Tout, but she also has the option of going to Aintree.
“Mange Tout could go to Aintree or Fairyhouse. To be honest I’d love to run her at Fairyhouse getting the allowances, but I need to talk to Brian (Acheson, owner) and the whole team, she could still go to Aintree yet,” said Elliott.
The other Grade One action at Fairyhouse comes in the form of the WillowWarm Gold Cup in which Elliott could run Kala Conti, Jacob’s Ladder and one he seems very sweet on, Galway Plate winner Western Fold.
“Kala Conti will run, she just just didn’t jump well enough in Sandown when the ground was very soft and the fences were very big for her on the day. She wouldn’t want it too soft,” said Elliott.
“Jacob’s Ladder won at Navan the last day. He’ll run and I could run Western Fold.
“He ran at Cheltenham but coming back in trip could be what he wants, I’m a bit disappointed in myself for running him at Cheltenham as he didn’t get home over the trip. I tried him over it at Down Royal and he just doesn’t get three miles.”
