Doncaster to benefit from change of plan with Docklands

A seasonal debut at Doncaster is planned for Docklands as he prepares for a return to Hong Kong for trainer Harry Eustace.
The six-year-old is an admirable flagbearer for the stable, winning the Britannia at Royal Ascot in 2023 and returning to the same meeting to land the Queen Anne in 2025, having finished second the year prior.
He has also travelled extensively, plying his trade in Australia, France, Japan, Hong Kong for owners OTI Racing, who, along with Eustace, have a potential bid for the Doncaster Mile in mind for him before a return to latter jurisdiction.
“He’s very well,” said Eustace of the bay, whose initial target of aiming for the Dubai Turf was made difficult by the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
“We wouldn’t want to find ourselves in a situation where he ends up staying Dubai longer than planned and that makes sending him back to Hong Kong (for the FWD Champions Mile) trickier.
“He’ll probably go to Doncaster for the Doncaster Mile as a prep run before Hong Kong.
“The programme for him then writes itself, really, he’s six this year and he was very consistent last year.
“He deserves to have a shake at all of those Group Ones, Goodwood might be the only one we skip this year as he’s run there twice now and it just doesn’t play to his strengths.”
Another star from the Eustace stable is Time For Sandals, winner of the Commonwealth Cup at Ascot last season and a filly with a top-level sprint programme ahead of her again this year.
“She’s very well, she was also meant to go to Dubai, but for various reason she isn’t – partly logistics and partly because we haven’t had the smoothest six weeks with her.
“She’ll start off in the Abernant, I should think. What will be interesting this year is if, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all, she sharpens up and ends up back at five furlongs rather than six.
“Having said that, she’s probably going to be quite versatile and the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot will likely be the ideal spot for her.”
