David Menuisier expecting more to come from promising Vintager

David Menuisier believes the future is bright for Vintager following his promising effort in the Solario Stakes at Sandown last Saturday.
The Mastercraftsman colt was a largely unconsidered 33-1 shot for his racecourse debut at Newmarket a month ago, but an impressive victory earned him a step up to Group Three level.
Although he came up short, finishing fifth of seven runners behind the impressive Masar, Menuisier is confident his charge can make his mark at Pattern level before the season is out.
"I was very pleased with him at Sandown. He ran a bit green and is a big baby still," said the Pulborough-based trainer.
"That is the problem when they win first time out - they have to be very quick learners to be able to take the step up in grade.
"I think he showed greenness rather than lack of ability as he ran with plenty of promise.
"The Sommerville Stakes at Newmarket (September 28) is the first plausible option for him, but he would need the ground to be on the easy side
"If it was quick I'm not convinced I would run him. I want to look after him as it is all about next year."
