Wednesday tips: Dave Nevison's best bets at Salisbury and Catterick

Swinging Eddie is an eight-year-old now and seems to need a couple of runs after an absence to get himself into peak fitness. 

He ran a little better last time compared to his reappearance and could well be poised to hit winning form soon. 

He's also a pound lower than both his past two wins and over the past two seasons, he has needed to dip under a mark of 60 to be able to score. 

Seven furlongs is definitely his optimum trip and he should be able to hold a decent position from stall three. He might just be the value in this tricky race.

Tim Easterby’s three-year-old is up against some older sprinters here and is a maiden running in a handicap, but I think he might be able to break his duck in this modest affair. 

has finished runner-up three times this year, and was beaten less than half a length on each occasion without looking to lack courage, so he doesn’t deserve to still be winless, and he was only just run out of things close home last time at Redcar. 

He has been raised 2lb for that run but has performed well off this rating in the past, so I am very hopeful.

Lady Wingalong and jockey Ned Sangster are bidding to end a frustrating run of second places, and there is a good chance they might prove a winning combination this time. 

Sangster performed well when runner-up aboard Expert Witness when I tipped him at Newbury recently, but didn’t quite manage to win, and he takes off a very valuable 7lb against other amateur riders here.

Despite finishing runner-up on her past three starts, the selection has done nothing wrong, and she relishes this trip, so this looks a good opportunity.
