Top tipster Dave Nevison shares his selections for Redcar and Leicester on Tuesday - enjoy both fixtures live on Racing TV and Racing TV Extra. 2.00 Redcar: Young Fire
I was with Young Fire at Beverley last time out thinking he was about ready to take advantage of a plummeting handicap mark, but he was not in a good position on the inside when he got stopped in his run, and jockey David Nolan virtually gave up and walked the 9yo back in.
The handicapper has dropped him a further 3lb, so he is now able to run in a 0-65 event which is the lowest grade he has ever contested.
His previous effort at Thirsk, where he was caught out wide, had signalled that a return to form may well be imminent, and he was definitely the subject of market support last time.
He has won at Redcar in the past and now Danny Tudhope takes over in the saddle so if things do go right for him he has plenty going from in this.
4.55 Leicester: Destiny’s Spirit
Destiny’s Spirit ended her two-year-old year in really good form winning a sprint Nursery Handicap off a mark of 63 in decent style. She had a terrible season last year, though, and dropped down from 68 to 46 after a string of poor performances.
However, last time out at Chepstow she looked like she might be on the way back off this basement mark.
She was on the wrong side but also had to switch and made significant progress under hands and heels plus was ridden by a 3lb claimer, and could definitely have finished closer another day.
Hollie Doyle, who won on her as a two-year-old, is back on board here and I expect her mount to go well again.
5.10 Redcar: Enderman
Simon Walker may be at the veteran stage of his career, but he is still a force in these amateur races and has got a lot going for him riding Enderman in this big-field sprint.
Paul Midgely’s six-year-old is in very good form and was beaten just a head last time at Nottingham, and was only half a length behind when also runner-up at Thirsk on his penultimate start which came on ground similar to this.
He has been raised 2lb but that shouldn’t count against him too much and I fully expect a good run at least here.
