Dave Nevison's top tips for Taunton on Thursday

2.15 Taunton: Ask Peter
James Robottom has ridden three winners and is getting plenty of chances with Anthony Honeyball, so his 10lb claim is looking increasingly valuable.
The young rider has been on Ask Peter for his past two starts and did very well on her over this course and distance last time out.
The seven-year-old mare is dropped slightly in grade for what is just her second handicap and, off the same mark as last time, Ask Peter has a solid each way chance against an unpenalised last-time-out winner, and could even break her maiden tag.
2.50 Taunton: Shot Boii
It was all over at the first fence when Shot Boi made an appalling mistake at Ludlow last time out, but I am prepared to put a line through that run.
On his previous start he stayed on well to be second in a similar grade handicap to this race.
David Pipe has switched from a visor to full blinkers for this race and hopefully the more severe headgear might eliminate the tendency for the nine-year-old to race in snatches.
Shot Boi has it in him to win a race off this mark and might well be underestimated in the betting. Although this is a low-grade handicap several have shown promise, but I am hopeful a clear round can get the Pipe stayer in the frame at least.
3.25 Taunton: Jack Hyde
Jack Hyde ran well wearing a tongue strap when finishing second in a good handicap at Cheltenham last time but Fergal O’Brien subsequently opted to give him a wind operation after that November run and this is his first run since.
He already looks well enough handicapped to win a race based on his form and if the surgery has a positive effect, he could well be seriously well in.
This is a 0-140 grade race but very low in prize money and far from the most competitive for its grade and could be the perfect race to reintroduce Jack Hyde this season. Claimer Tom Broughton has won on him twice in the past, too.
