Dave Nevison's best bets for Tuesday

It was perhaps inevitable that Exeter fell victim to the weather but fingers crossed Market Rasen and Southwell keep the show on the road on
1.10 Market Rasen: Autumn Return
Ruth Jefferson is obviously keen not to overface this highly progressive mare and has found a 0-120 handicap (she is rated 120) where she can have a big class advantage over five modest rivals.
She won last time at Musselburgh in a better race than this one with something to spare and a 4lb rise in her mark is more than fair. She broke her maiden over hurdles in autumn 2022 over this course and distance and this represents a solid opportunity.
2.40 Market Rasen: William Cody
The final furlong perhaps caught him out last time out and extended Willam Cody’s run of second places to three for this season but there is nothing wrong with his attitude and he will deservedly go off favourite here.
He has gone up a small amount in the handicap for his three good runs this term and has dropped down to a distance just short of 2½ miles, which will suit him much better.
6.00 Southwell: Luna Effect
Aidan Keeley is riding quite a few for Roger Varian and has a solid chance on this lightly raced maiden.
Luna Effect is a modest type but must be held in some regard by his connections for them to stick with him.
He certainly looked as though he was up to winning a race at this level last time when he was third, ridden by Keeley, over the furlong shorter trip at this track in December. He had gone down very narrowly at Yarmouth in October and has been knocking at the door. He must have every chance of breaking his duck here.
