Dave Nevison's Thursday tips: three more bets for our in-form tipster

Abingworth does have a tendency to make at least one mistake in all of his races, and that has to be factored into his odds when backing him, but he has managed to get himself 3lb lower than his latest win, which was in March last year, so is clearly well handicapped. 

He has gradually run himself into form and with the stable amongst the winners in December, he can be expected to go very well. 

A flat, right-handed track such as Huntingdon would seem likely to suit him well. too.

Ask Me Another improved steadily last term, and may well be better than his rivals here. She is closely related to the top-class staying hurdler Sam Spinner, and is likely to be well suited by this step up in trip.

Her stable had winners in December, and I am not too concerned that she is making her seasonal reappearance here. She gave Rockola a seven-length beating off level weights when she won at Hereford last time out and even though Alan King's charge has improved since, I have no doubt which of the pair I want to be with.

This is a really competitive staying handicap hurdle to end the Ayr card, but there is no doubt Coventry is the best handicapped contender in the race. 

He just needs to show his form, which hasn’t happened too often in recent runs, to go close here. He was dropped to two miles at Haydock last time out, which was very surprising given it was clearly far too sharp for him, and he ran as well as could be expected. 

On a positive note, he was dropped another pound in the weights and prior to that he had run a very promising second at the much stiffer track at Carlisle track. 

It would appear his new trainer, Lisa Harrison, is happy to step him up to three miles, which is definitely his trip, and the soft ground is no issue, either. 

Peter Kavanagh takes off a handy 3lb, which will be handy at the end of this stamina test, and the rider did me favour on New Year's Eve when guiding Taras Halls to victory, so I'm hoping he does the same here on this each-way selection.
