2.00 Carlisle: Epidavros
Mr Freddie Scot doesn’t get many fancied rides, but has ridden a winner on the Flat and over hurdles this season, and was second on his only ride for Katie Scott. He is obviously well regarded.
He is definitely in with a chance here as Epidavros has slipped to her lowest ever mark despite some consistent efforts this season.
Cheekpieces were applied for the first time last time out and she ran very well to be beaten less than two lengths, and her best recent run was when third over this course and distance three starts ago.
Epidavros won twice in September last season and this might well be her time of year.
4.00 Carlisle: Harry Mole
Harry Mole is a maiden but has not had many starts, and has been running consistently well recently, placing in two higher grade handicaps on his most recent starts.
He wasn’t well drawn as it turned out at Ayr last time and his third place could be upgraded further.
The handicapper has dropped him 1lb so he has to be considered for this winnable 0-60 event.
4.30 Carlisle: Taylormade Lad
Taylormade Lad raced over 10 furlongs last time out, a trip short of his best, and the handicapper has dropped him 2lb which was likely the aim.
He was 2lb higher when he scored at this course and distance last season, and the Michael Dods-trained gelding looks ready to score again now he is favourably handicapped.
He always runs well at this track and this modest event looks well within his compass.
