In-form tipster Dave Nevison shares his best bets for the action across Newmarket, live on Racing TV, and Ascot on Saturday.
1.00 Newmarket: Night In Vegas
These big sales races are pretty much the only races I like to focus on nowadays that aren’t older-horse handicaps, as they are invariably big fields, but not always the most competitive. They're also usually run at a strong pace which I believe lessens the possibility of interference and strange results.
Night In Vegas is this year’s contender for these races, and looks value, even at odds-on, to land this prize having won two similar contests on his past two starts.
Eve Johnson Houghton’s colt has not yet won over seven furlongs, but he races as though it will not be an issue, and he's at least three lengths better than his closest rivals here, based on ratings.
2.10 Newmarket: Evanesco
Evanesco carries top weight here and, based on his recent smart performances, he could well outclass these rivals.
Both courses at Newmarket typically favour contenders who race up with the pace, so it is no surprise that the Charlie Johnston yard has done consistently well here over the years.
Evanasco ran two good races on the Rowley Mile in the Spring, and made all to win on the second occasion.
He has improved since and ran a blinder in a big-field handicap at Leopardstown last time out. This race is easier, and he could get an easier time out in front.
He is conceding weight to some decent older rivals, but could well be good enough to defeat them.

3.35 Ascot: Hawksbill (nap)
Hawksbill hasn’t yet come good for Richard Spencer, but it does look a matter of time, based on recent runs, and this big-field, seven-furlong event could be a good opportunity.
The selection will definitely be staying on at the end of this cavalry charge as he stays a mile, but these races are often won by similar types who appreciate the stiff track at Ascot.
He finished second at Ayr last time out in another high-grade handicap on heavy ground, but is equally well suited to the better ground here, and seems to have done well with the draw.
4.10 Ascot: Regal Envoy
Regal Envoy was in good form earlier this year when scoring twice, but his form took a dip over the summer. However, he returned to form last time out after the handicapper had eased him a few pounds.
The seven-year-old finished second to Tattersall, who was well handicapped on his best form and clearly responded to first-time cheekpieces at Lingfield last time out.
Hopefully Regal Envoy responds equally well to a tongue tie being applied for the first time on Saturday.
