Christmas would basically have been sorted out had my 50-1 tip Go Bob Go won on Tuesday but second was a good enough effort.
There is little chance of me finding one at those odds among Thursday’s fields, which are desperately small for the most part. The trio below all have obvious chances and hopefully a treble is not too much to hope for!
12.50 Market Rasen: World Trip
Lewis Stones is a really promising 7lb claimer who has ridden a winner and five seconds (including at big prices) in his past 20 rides and World Trip is fancied to give him another good spin here.
Olly Murphy is the hottest trainer around at present and I would be extremely surprised if World Tour was lacking fitness on her first run since May.
This horse started improving last spring and won a desperate contest by 13 lengths at Perth and was then perhaps a little unlucky not to follow up a couple of weeks later. If she is on the same trajectory after a summer break then she will beat this modest lot.
1.22 Market Rasen: Jesuitique
Is very well as he’s due to go up 5lb for his win last week and his winning rider is able to claim 5lb in this, rather than the 3lbs he took off at Sandown. So Jesuitique is effectively running off a 2lb lower mark.
He was obviously well bought from France by his trainer and has been typically well placed to win his two starts in Britain by narrow but convincing margins.
He is by Saint Des Saints, so it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he improved even further for Thursday’s step up in trip. Indeed, it would be disappointing if he didn’t.
This race is ostensibly a step up in grade but with the top weight fully 10lb below the ceiling of this 0-145 it may not be quite the jump up in class it could have been. A hat-trick is on the cards.
3.50 Wincanton: Norley
It was a weak race he won last time but he was backed off the boards to do so and never looked like being beaten.
The Stratford win came with the senior Morgan brother on board but he ran a really good race at Exeter with Thursday’s rider, Beau, on board so I don’t expect any downturn in his form.
He has only gone up 4lb for that comfortable victory, where he made all. It is very likely he can do the same here.
