Our top tipster has a couple of fancies at Newmarket on Thursday afternoon plus another in the finale at Hamilton. Watch how they all fare on Racing TV
2.25 Newmarket: Doctor Parnassus
Although the winner of his latest race at York ( Kondo Isami) did nothing for the form at Ascot last week, I still believe that race was a strong affair and the selection was beaten by two progressive types.
He is only 3lb higher on Thursday afternoon and the handicapper could well have been lenient. He showed he clearly stayed this trip last time and looked like he will enjoy the good pace that looks on the cards.
James Doyle looks a positive booking for David O’Meara but he still will be a fair price as there are several in-form rivals who have risen considerably in the weights for their efforts.
4.45 Newmarket: Alabama Boy
newmarket
20:20 Newmarket - Thursday May 13
He went up 10lb for winning impressively at Haydock but still managed to follow up on the Rowley Mile. The margin was much narrower (watch above) but he still won comfortably and remains one to be with.
The form of that Newmarket race looks strong with a well beaten runner already having won and several others upholding the form. In the circumstances, a 3lb rise looks reasonable.
Oisin Murphy takes over and the Ed Walker stable continues in terrific form. Provided Alabama Boy has been freshened up from a short break, I expect him to complete the hat trick.
9.00 Hamilton: Toolmaker
Has his first start for Tristan Davidson and well worth monitoring in the market.
Davidson went close with a horse at Beverley who had been beaten 50 lengths or more on three recent starts over fences. This horse has some good efforts off lowly marks on the all-weather but has yet to show much on turf.
He gets further than this trip but a stiff 6f such as Hamilton may suit him well. Joe Fanning looks an interesting booking taking over from a claimer on his first outing for the yard and I definitely think he is worth a look at a price even if the surface is a question mark.
