It has been a good week for me at York, and I believe I was only a set of cheekpieces away from a big treble on Thursday with Astro King staying on to finish third after hitting a flat spot.
Hopefully, we can go out with a bang and land the Yankee this weekend.
There are extra place offers all over the place so look for the best terms before placing your wagers. For instance, the Ebor sponsors, Sky Bet, are offering eight places on their big race.
2.25 York: Ravenscraig Castle at 18-1 (or 16-1 with Sky Bet, who offer seven places)
I have been seriously impressed with this horse as a staying handicapper and there is more to come.
He has only gone up 9lb for his two wins and represents totally different form lines to the bulk of the field. I am prepared to back him to upset the southern raiders.
On what we have seen so far he looks the ideal type for this race given his running style. He will be out the back early, in all likelihood, but hopefully his grey features will be seen powering up the long home straight.
Andrew Mullen obviously gets on well with him and Ravenscraig Castle will not be at all inconvenienced if the predicted rain arrives.
3.00 York: Space Blues at 11-8 with BetVictor and Sky Bet
Was entitled to need the run after a short absence at Goodwood last time out and shaped really encouragingly in fourth, doing all his best work close home.
That was a very encouraging reappearance after a disappointment on his final Dubai start. He should be spot on for this and has the perfect scenario with a guaranteed pace to run at with Highfield Princess and Lord Of The Lodge both going from the front.
He won a Group One in Deauville while he was on his winning roll last term and is a top class 7f specialist. If at his best, he will win comfortably.
3.35 York: Shanroe at 16-1 with Sky Bet (who offer eight places)
curragh
19:05 Curragh - Wednesday June 2
Has been kept for this race since he won the Irish trial for this at the Curragh in early June, and has got in at the very bottom of the weights.
Shanroe has been improving in leaps and bounds both over hurdles and on the Flat recently and a feature of his progress is his ability to travel well off a good pace and stay on in good style at the business end.
He was delivered with a perfectly timed run by Robbie Colgan at the Curragh and showed a great attitude to hold off some determined challengers. Those battling qualities will stand him in good stead here and his shrewd trainer Karl Thornton can upstage some of the biggest names in racing.
4.45 York: Migration at 9-2 with Sky Bet and William Hill (both offer five places)
After a very promising comeback at Salisbury, every judge in the country wanted to be on this horse at Goodwood and for once they were right.
Migration was well backed and very impressive in that event, even more so given they went slowly for the first part of the race. He has been raised 8lb but I believe he can follow up.
A strong pace looks pretty much guaranteed and his chance would be improved even more if the forecast rain materialises. I strongly believe this is a Listed class horse, at least, for the future but he can take this and possibly the Cambridgeshire before he steps up in grade.
