2.55 Catterick: Master Richard

He takes on older horses once again now, but he’s unpenalized for his latest success at York last week and looks a ‘good thing’ to follow up if he reproduces that effort.

Going on this season as a whole, the likelihood is that Master Richard will run well again as he has generally been on a progressive and upward curve following a win on his last start of last year.

The one worry about taking a shortish price is that there will be a battle for the lead here and hopefully Master Richard won’t get involved (his one slightly below-form effort came as a result of doing so). If he stays off the lead, he should have enough left in his younger legs to see off some exposed older rivals.

8.00 Lingfield: Reckon I’m Hot

Rhys Clutterbuck did me a very big each-way favour at 20-1 at Sandown recently and I am hopeful that, in this competitive if modest field, the rider’s 3lb claim might well make the marginal difference required to finally get Reckon I’m Hot home in front.

The three-year-old is in form at present and has been placed several times off this sort of mark already, more often than not beaten narrowly.

Six furlongs looks his ideal trip and he has a couple of habitual slow starters drawn inside of him, so I am hoping that he will be able to tuck in quite easily from his wide draw as he usually breaks well.

8.20 Yarmouth: Heer’s Sadie

She won a 0-65 handicap over this course and distance last year and should have a good chance of winning this 0-55 race.

Heer’s Sadie has had just two runs this season but signalled her turn wasn’t so far away with a good second last time over a furlong further and on slower ground.

She has run her best races under 7lb claimer Sam Feilden and it will be disappointment if she doesn’t run well.
