Our betting expert likes a pair in action at Fakenham on Tuesday plus another who runs at Hereford on a day when there is no Flat racing in Britain. 2.15 Fakenham: Tara Iti
Gary Moore has engaged an array of claiming riders on Tara Iti since he won under Jamie Moore in June last year and it could be significant that this horse has never won under a conditional.
The six-year-old burst a blood vessel on his latest start, which is a worry but the fact that his trainer has engaged Niall Houlihan for the ride in the selling handicap might well be significant.
Tara Iti is now 5lb lower than for his latest win. The tight turning track should be no issue as his best runs have been at Fontwell and Plumpton.
4.20 Fakenham: Trincomalee
Lucy Wadham has been giving Dylan Whelan plenty of opportunities and he won on his latest ride for the yard. I think the 7lb he claims will really count over this marathon trip.
Trincomalee came late to chasing and has done OK but is still much lower over fences than he was over hurdles.
He lost a shoe last time at Sandown but previous to that was beaten eight lengths by a rapid improver. The handicapper has left him unchanged and I definitely think he can win off this mark, especially with Whelan taking 7lb off his back.
7.00 Hereford: Silver Shade
He looks a potentially well-handicapped horse and makes his debut for the in-form yard of Anthony Honeyball.
Silver Shade ran just once for Milton Harris and went like one who needed the run. He has not run since but has dropped 8lb for what is only his second handicap.
A mark of 112 looks decent to judge by some of his efforts as a novice, when he won a couple of times. It will be interesting if there is any money for him and he is one to look out for from this stable.
