Dave Nevison's Wednesday tips: "He is certainly capable of scoring again"

Born In The West is a maiden, like the majority of the contenders in this low-grade handicap, but has been placed in four of his six starts under rules and has actually won a point-to-point. 

Unlike many of his rivals, he may still have improvement in him, and has certainly run well lately. He was beaten just under three lengths and finished in front of a previous winner at Southwell when last seen. 

I have often stated my positive opinion of the Sam England yard, which is in good form but also enduring a frustrating run of second places. This represents a solid opportunity for them to record a winner.

Enpassant did me a favour a couple of starts ago when winning, having been sent off the well-backed favourite, in a similar grade handicap to this. 

The four-year-old had drifted down to a mark of 65 for that win but has run well off his rating of 67 since, and is certainly capable of scoring again. 

He is reunited with Rossa Ryan, who is riding brilliantly this year, and looks set for an excellent time in 2025.

Enpassant is not going to be his most memorable success, but the combination can certainly strike again. 

More Than A Feelin improved from a very low level throughout 2024 by winning three races, all in handicaps.

Although she was only fourth of six runners on her recent reappearance, she ran well enough to suggest there are more races to be won with her this season. 

She could have landed in a suitable event here as a bigger field, and the likelihood of a fast pace, will suit her very well. 

Alice Haynes’ filly has a decent draw (some fancied horses are drawn very wide) for a contender that is likely to come wide and late.
