Dave Nevison's Good Friday tips: three best bets

Dance Time won by five lengths at Wolverhampton in November, and was given a steep rise, which has appeared to make life difficult for her in her subsequent outings. 

However, after a short break last time out, Dance Time was beaten in a blanket finish by less than half a length into fourth, and showed enough to suggest she can still win races off this elevated perch. 

David Loughnane has engaged a useful 5lb claimer in Jack Callan, and has upped the five-year-old to two miles here. At double-figure odds (11-1 is available, at the time of writing), she can go close again in this tricky race. 

Dark Ace looks to be a sprinter who is getting better with age, and experience. The Irish-trained contender had a good second half of last season, and after a mid-winter break, he reappeared with an accomplished win at Wolverhampton last time out where he led close home to win convincingly, if narrowly. 

He is 4lb higher here, but will be well suited by the strong pace that is likely here. Adrian McGuinness has kicked off April with a winner already, and has booked Oisin Orr again, so Dark Ace looks the improver in this field. 

Dark Moon Rising looks another opportunity for Jack Callan to get an experienced handicapper into a place, at the very least. 

The selection sometimes looks as though he lacks the pace to win over ten furlongs these days, but I think the likelihood of a strong pace in this competitive event may well negate that, and give the seven-year-old a good chance of staying on into contention. 

He has gone well under Callan in less than ideal circumstances on his past two starts, and will be better suited by this test. He's chalked up at 12-1, at the time of writing.
