Dave Nevison free tips: my three best bets for Tuesday

Where’s Freddy seemed to get bogged down in the mud at Nottingham on his final start last season and can be forgiven that run. 

He had hit form, with the tongue-strap applied, after four unplaced runs when he won at a big price in a handicap over 7f at Newmarket last September. 

Where’s Freddy followed up with a good effort in a decent handicap over this course and distance, getting beaten just a head sandwiching two progressive next-time-out winners. 

He will have a strong pace, which serves him well as he is often soon off the bridle and takes plenty of driving. He does respond well and could be an interesting horse in handicaps this season. 

Object is unpenalised for his win in an apprentices’ event last time, when he won with authority over this course and distance. 

He was well backed last week, so is clearly felt to be in better form than he showed last season, when his mark declined steadily despite a couple of decent efforts along the way. 

Object was ridden by a 10lb claimer for his two-length victory and David Allan takes over in the saddle. That should be viewed as a positive as the much more experienced jockey has ridden Object to a narrow defeat in a 0-90 at the start of last season. 

He is 19lb lower in the weights here and it is difficult to argue the case against him winning again without a penalty. 

Grant Tuer hit form over the weekend with three winners and Showtime Mahones is fancied to continue his good run. 

The five-year-old handicapper is still quite lightly raced and as yet has not excelled on all-weather surfaces. 

However, he looked to be getting closer to a win on his past two starts and now switches back to turf. 

He is back down to his last winning mark of 70 and he has plenty going for him here and with the yard in top form.
