In-form tipster Dave Nevison makes a case for three selections on the flat and over jumps on Thursday.
1.45 Lingfield: Fox Power
Mick Appleby has already had a winner this year and will have plenty more on the all-weather, in particular, over the next few weeks, I am sure.
Fox Power is definitely interesting here. He returned to Appleby after being sold cheaply having had quite a disappointing time for David Simcock.
He only had four runs for Appleby having been a decent performer for Richard Hannon before that, and those outings didn’t go that well, either, but Appleby obviously still believes he can gain some success with this horse who returns to him off a mark 11lb lower than his final run for Appleby.
Fox Power is clearly well handicapped at his best, and he won on his first run for Appleby last time plus there has to be a chance he can do the same again this time around.
2.58 Hereford: Invincible Nao
Gary Moore and Caoilin Quinn teamed up to win the Welsh Grand National over Christmas and look very likely to have another winner in the west here, albeit at a much lower level.
Invincible Nao was beaten just over a length last time out and the winner, Passing Well, ran a great race at Newbury last weekend, while the runner up has already won since, so the form looks very strong.
The six-year-old runs off the same mark here, but returns to a much weaker grade, and looks a class above most of his rivals.
3.28 Hereford: A Dublin Job
A Dublin Job joined Harry Derham in December and seemed to have appreciated the move from Ireland on his only start for the excellent young trainer when third at Market Rasen last time out.
He was sent off a well-backed 11-8 shot on that occasion, and obviously some backers might have been disappointed he didn’t win, but he certainly showed enough to suggest a victory was due soon.
He was placed in big-field handicaps in Ireland and this competitive race shouldn’t scare him too much, I would expect improvement from his first start given the form of his yard, too.
