Dane O'Neill handed lengthy whip ban at referral hearing

Dane O'Neill has been hit with a 21-day suspension, seven of which have been deferred until January, following his referral to the British Horseracing Authority over his use of the whip.

O'Neill was found guilty of using his whip with excessive frequency for the fifth time in six months when riding Thammin to finish second at Kempton on October 13.

He will be banned from October 27 to November 15, with seven days deferred until January 15.
