Connections still in love with their Calendar Girl

Calendar Girl could be set for her delayed return to action at Ascot at the end of July.
The Owen Burrows-trained filly won three of her four starts at two but has not been seen since winning the Group Three Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket in October.
Burrows was not happy with Calendar Girl in the first half of the season and ruled her out of the 1000 Guineas as he took his time to get the daughter of Advertise in prime condition for later targets.
Sam Hoskins, syndicate manager to owners Kennet Valley, said: “She’s doing good. She had a little setback in the spring and it’s a long season so Owen just took his time.
“She’s been cantering away for three or four weeks now and there is a race over a mile, the Valiant Stakes at Ascot at the end of July, a Group Three for fillies on King George Day that if everything went well could be an option for her.
“She had a bit of time in the field in the spring and I think she did really well physically for it so as much as we were dreaming about Guineas and stuff, we’re hoping there might be a silver lining that it has done well particularly for her.
“The form’s worked out well this spring as well with Song Of The Clyde (second behind Calendar Girl in a valuable sales race at Doncaster’s St Leger meeting) winning the Carnarvon Stakes so we’ve still got high hopes for her and are really excited about her.
“Hopefully everything goes well with her work and we start up at the end of July and we’re a fresh horse for the second half of the season.”
