Connections content to bide time with Ulysses before Breeders' Cup

Ulysses is reported to be in good form following his exciting victory in the Juddmonte International at York - but connections will wait a little longer before making the next call on the progressive four-year-old.
The Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar on November 4, in which he was fourth to Highland Reel at Santa Anita in 2016, is the ultimate objective for the Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt, who defeated the classy three-year-olds Churchill and Barney Roy on the Knavesmire.
Should all go well, the intention would be to give Ulysses one more run before his American adventure.
"He seems to have come out of the race very well, which is good news," said Alan Cooper, racing manager to owners the Niarchos family.
"The plan is to work back from the Breeders' Cup. As he only ran on Wednesday we will just feel our way for a few days and come up with a plan between now and then.
"We are in no rush and will let things unfold as and when Sir Michael is ready.
"To give the horse one more run would be the case in an ideal world, but we'll feel our way and see what's best for the horse."
Ulysses is chalked up at a top-priced 4-1 with Sky Bet for the Irish Champion Stakes on September 9, but would seem an unlikely runner as Stoute indicated he would like to give the colt a break after his York win.
Churchill, who chased home in the Juddmonte International, is an intended runner in the Irish Champion Stakes and is available at 2-1 with 32Red. He is 11-8 with some other firms.
