1.10 Cheltenham: COME ON TEDDY
This is a big day for
as he introduces expensive purchases for the first time and I feel the trainer may be able to start the ball rolling in style with Come On Teddy, who could be very well handicapped starting out for his new yard.
He has made a successful chasing debut in a handicap off 137 after an eight-months break previously so there are no doubts about him being able to go well fresh and, if anything, it may well be the best time to catch him.
Come On Teddy has dropped down to a mark of 137 for this, so he is clearly very well in if the stable switch has rekindled his spark.
Derham has booked crack Irish amateur Barry O’Neill to ride, so he clearly means business.
2.20 Cheltenham: GA LAW
He won this feature handicap a couple of years ago and definitely has a solid chance of a repeat win in a race that is slightly different in make-up than is usual these days.
There aren’t too many second-season chasers who might have substantial improvement in the field and
might well be one who still has some upside in him still being just an eight-year-old.
He certainly looks as though he has come into this season in very good shape judged on his reappearance effort when second at
in mid-October and trainer
has had four winners in the last seven days, so the stable is clearly in excellent form.
A good run looks assured.

2.55 Cheltenham: DOYEN QUEST
Doyen Quest looks the improver in this field and this handicap looks one for Dan and Harry Skelton.
Doyen Quest landed his final race of last season over 2 ½ miles on the New Course here and he definitely looks as though he could well improve for the step-up in trip now.
His second in the Tote Silver Trophy at Chepstow on his return last time – beaten just four lengths – was really encouraging and he still looks to be on a very workable mark of 125.
This could be a stepping stone to bigger handicaps over three miles and further later in the season.
