The medical and veterinary pharmaceuticals company Chanelle Pharma is the new sponsor of the Irish Champion Hurdle in a four-year deal which will run until 2024.
The new sponsorship will take effect next month, with the Chanelle Pharma Irish Champion Hurdle the highlight on the first day of the Dublin Racing Festival on Saturday 6 February. The agreement will see the Loughrea, County Galway headquartered company extend its partnership with Leopardstown racecourse as the current sponsor of the Grade One Chanelle Pharma Novice Hurdle.
The Irish Champion Hurdle was established in 1950 and has an illustrious history with a roll of honour featuring equine heroes such as Hatton’s Grace, Flying Bolt, L’Escargot & Istabraq. In more recent years, Hurricane Fly dominated the race with five consecutive wins.
