At Vimeiro and Hasling
Cartmel racegoers will get their first look at the Ben Haslam-trained At Vimeiro in the track’s opening novices’ hurdle on Wednesday, but it is unlikely to be their last.
Cartmel Racecourse, in partnership with Old Gold Racing, have launched him as a syndicate horse, for lovers of the unique track to follow.
The four-year-old gelding is in the right hands as Haslam was top trainer at Cartmel last year. At Vimeiro, a son of Sea The Stars, originally cost 650,000gns as a yearling at the Tattersalls Book 1 Sales and reached a peak rating of 96 on the Flat before being sold for a Jumps campaign.
He won his latest race on the Flat at Southwell in January.
The Cartmel Syndicate Racehorse will be aimed towards races at the track, while owners will also be able to access a range of other benefits.
Allen Gibb, a Cartmel Racecourse Spokesperson, said: “We’re excited to be partnering with Old Gold Racing in launching a syndicate horse for the racecourse for the first time, especially one like At Vimeiro who looks like he could be very talented.
“Old Gold Racing have done a fantastic job in setting this syndicate up and we’re really looking forward to getting under way. I’d imagine he’ll be very popular with all the local people as well as visitors and you can expect a huge cheer if he gets his head in front here at Cartmel.”
Old Gold Racing CEO, Ed Seyfried added: “Cartmel is a unique racecourse and one that is rightly treasured by the local people, so we thought it would be great to have a horse that the whole community could get behind.
“At Vimeiro is a beautiful horse with plenty of class, and one that looks like excelling as a summer jumper. Ben Haslam, who trained more winners than anyone else at Cartmel last season, is very happy with him and we’re looking forward to getting up and running.
“Not only will owners have a horse to roar home, but they’ll also get exclusive access to benefits such as the famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Puddings! What more would you want?”
