WIN THE ULTIMATE FLAT PACK!
Last year's Cambridgeshire winner Boiling Point picked up listed honours with a game success in the Fitzdares Festival Stakes. In a slowly-run race, the mount of Shane Gray was never far from the steady gallop being set by Jamie Spencer on La Botte.
With most of the field holding some sort of chance three out, it appeared as if Naqeeb – a listed winner over C&D in the autumn – was going to move clear under Ryan Sexton.
However, as La Botte faded, Naqeeb was unable to shake the persistent Boiling Point under his 3lb penalty and it was the Karl Burke-trained runner who eventually prevailed in a photo finish by a short head.
Gray told Racing TV: “I was put on this fellow and luckily he was the right one
“He’s an honest horse, you can ride him from anywhere, but sometimes he can over-race in behind. A mile and a quarter is as far as he wants to go.
“It really helped when Jamie [Spencer] went on, we got racing a bit early and it helped me late on.
“He was very honest and good for me. Sometimes they get headed and down tools, but he was never giving up on me.”
