Ventura Express won at this track in 2023 off a rating of 79 and, in 2024 off a mark of 82.
He gets to race off 73 here, which gives him a clear chance in terms of handicapping, and he comes into the race in good form.
He shaped well from a poor draw last time out and was not given a hard time by Paul Mulrennan, who is back in the saddle on Sunday. The selection can add to his good record at the track.

3.05 Pontefract: Merveilleux Lappin

The burgeoning relationship of Owen Burrows and Callum Rodriguez team up with this filly who was a very useful performer in Poland where she won the Polish Oaks.
On her first start for Burrows in a handicap, she was very unlucky not to win. She was consistently denied a run behind Serengeti there, and flew home to be beaten just a head.
She posted a big speed figure that day, which fully entitles her to step up into Listed company here.

This is the first time in his past seven runs that Sax Appeal gets to contest a class 4 handicap having been mixing it in a higher grade.
His last win came in this grade off the mark he gets to race off here, and the RaceiQ pace map suggests that he could get an easy lead in front.
He was well beaten in a better race at Goodwood last time out, but can bounce back here, given the favourable conditions.
