Top pundit and analyst Angus McNae has four selections for the final Sky Bet Sunday Series fixture of the year on the Knavesmire - live in full on Racing TV.
3.00 York : Silky Wilkie
It is worth taking a chance with
Silky Wilkie now that he has become very well handicapped and is well drawn in stall 1 (Race IQ draw advantage + 0.39 length).
He was second in the Ayr Gold Cup last year off a mark of 99 and gets to race here off 86. If he returns to anything near the form he showed last season he is going to be hard to beat.
He comes here off a break and, although the ultimate target may be the Ayr Gold Cup once again, he is too well treated to ignore here.
3.30 York: Artisan Dancer
Artisan Dancer has run well in his last three starts without winning. The best of those performances came at the Ebor meeting when chasing home the useful Santorini Star.
That effort makes him look well treated off a mark of 83. His subsequent defeat at Southwell came in a falsely run race, but it suggested that he is still in good form.
A return to York and a likely decent gallop give him a good chance today.
4.30 York: Grand Grey
Grand Grey finished second to the very useful Sajir in the Abernant Stakes at Newmarket in April but he has been a disappointment in three starts since. However, I am adamant that he is a very useful sprinter.
He has not helped himself with slow starts and was too keen at Royal Ascot, but the image of him flashing home in the Abernant with splits that were faster than the winner is an indication of his raw ability and he will be a bigger price here than he should be.
5.00 York : Wonderbolt
This filly is unbeaten in two starts since sent handicapping and can complete the hat - trick. She raced keenly in front when winning at Newmarket last time, but still found plenty in the closing stages to win cosily from a horse who has gone on to win since.
She still looks well treated off a 6lb higher mark and is well drawn in stall 2 to adopt her prominent racing tactics.
