Angus McNae's Wednesday tips: Chief selection has to be Indian at Nottingham

I had a couple of winners last week that kept things ticking over and I am very hopeful of adding to my tally this week with four selections - two come from Nottingham and two from Kempton. Good luck all.
This John Gosden-trained colt shaped with immense promise on his debut at Sandown and with that experience in the bag he can go one better in what looks to be an above average maiden.
It is arguable that he should have won at Sandown. In that race he finished second to Kitaabaat having encountered significant trouble in-running.
He was only beaten three quarters of a length, staying on strongly once in the clear.

He pulled three and a half lengths clear of the third (Delsheer) and that horse won a good looking maiden at Windsor on Monday.
Not only does the bare form look good but his Timeform Timefigure (83) was very respectable.
Clearly he has a lot more to offer and he looks worthy of strong support to lose his maiden tag before going on to better things.
Formerly somewhat quirky, this son of Arc winner Montjeu has looked much more straightforward of late and has found some consistency when racing at this level.

chester

17:10 Chester - Saturday July 13
He was narrowly beaten here at Nottingham recently in a hot looking Class 3 Handicap and now drops down in grade to a Class 4 where, under top weight, he looks set to dominate inferiors.
He is able to run off the same mark (84) and a repetition of that latest effort will see him go very close.
He is a strong stayer at this trip of 10f and acts on soft ground so a big run looks on the cards for this strong travelling type.
This son of Scat Daddy made a very promising debut at Kempton a month ago.

sandown-park

14:20 Sandown-Park - Friday July 5
He finished second to a very promising Godolphin colt called Symbolization. He was four lengths clear of the third-placed horse that day, despite being too keen for his own good in the early part of the race.
The fact that he finished off the race so strongly was a surprise, given his early exertions. He was also looked after by his jockey Jamie Spencer and it is interesting that he retains the mount for the in-form Richard Hughes. There was some support for him on his debut and it would be no surprise were he to be well supported again with that first educative run behind him.
I think this lightly-raced gelding has plenty to offer, making only his third start in a handicap.
His career trajectory has been an upwards one and there has been distinct promise amid greenness in the first two handicaps he ran in.
In particular last time out off an eight-month layoff he shaped with real promise at Newmarket.

pontefract

17:30 Pontefract - Tuesday July 9
Held up and taking a little while to pick up he finished off his race very strongly, giving the impression that with this experience under his belt there could be yet more improvement in him.
He is bred to be better than a 79-rated handicapper and his trainer James Fanshawe regularly does well with this type of horse on the all-weather.
It is encouraging that his only career win came on an artificial surface at Newcastle and that win came off a similar break to the one he has just had.
Angus McNae's Tuesday tips: (prices correct at 10am)

4.55 Nottingham: Indian Chief at 4-1 with betfair
