Angus McNae's Meydan tips: "He will take a lot of beating"

Charlie Appleby has a stranglehold on this contest with four runners. 

Of that quartet, Bedouin Prince may turn out to be Appleby's best chance, even if William Buick has opted to ride Arabian Light. 

Bedouin Prince was an excellent second when last seen at Newmarket in a class two handicap over a mile where he shaped as though a step back up in trip would suit him. 

That race produced a fast time, which suggests he is well treated off a rating of 105, and he will benefit from the step up in trip here. 

Bhupat Seemar has his team in fine form, and does well with his dirt sprinters. His charge, Mufasa, should take a big step forward here from his seasonal return in December, and he was a Grade Three winner in the USA.

He has only had two starts in the UAE where he shaped well in the Godolphin Mile in April, and then showed plenty of pace on his seasonal return in the A Garhoud Sprint. 

He could be a very useful sprinter in the making.

Charlie Appleby has had this four-year-old gelded since his last run, and if that helps him find his best form again, then he will outclass this field. 

He won the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood in a fast time as a juvenile, and he also displayed a sharp turn of foot. 

That ability to quicken will serve him well at Meydan where the final quarter-mile pace is crucial, and he will take a lot of beating.

When last seen at Newmarket in July, he finished an excellent second in the bet365 Trophy (a valuable class two handicap) where he produced a triple-digit speed figure, which would have seen him run well in the Sky Bet Ebor, if connections had chosen to go down that route. 

He has instead been given a break, presumably with a middle east campaign in mind, and he can get off to the best possible start here.
