Albert Einstein looks very smart in winning debut at Naas

Albert Einstein lived up to the hype when striking on debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Naas.
Aidan O’Brien had told reporters on a stable visit to his Ballydoyle yard weeks ago that of the early two-year-olds showing up well on the gallops, one who particularly caught his eye was a Wootton Bassett colt out of Yet.
That meant he was from the family of the great Giant’s Causeway and that, combined with an impressive physique, certainly made him stand out in a field of seven.
Ger Lyons’ Evening Blues served it up to him and having had a run showed more nous, but with just one flick of his whip, Wayne Lordan ensured Albert Einstein knew what was required and the 1-2 favourite pulled a length and a quarter clear.
Paddy Power cut him to 5-1 from 9s for the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.
“He was never away and that’s the first time he’s come off the bridle,” said O’Brien.
“We’re delighted with him. You can see the size and power of him. He learned a bit today.
“Ger’s horse had a very good run the first day.
“We’ll see where he fits in. We always thought he was a Coventry horse, you’d like to get another run into him before.”
Earlier, First Approach went one better for O’Brien and Lordan in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden over five furlongs.
Second on debut at Dundalk, he showed the benefit of that experience, going on to win by a length and a quarter from market leader Amiata at 5-2.
“We’re delighted. He came forward from Dundalk,” said O’Brien.
“Wayne said he was green enough still for a horse that had had a run but he won grand.
“He could be an Ascot horse, we might give him another run somewhere if we can get one into him.
“He said five or six is not a problem, he said he’s not short of speed. When he got into him, he found plenty.”
O’Brien’s Garden Of Eden (6-1) came out best of the yard’s three runners in the Darley Irish EBF Naas Oaks Trial Stakes under Ben Coen.
It continued the trainer’s clean sweep of the Classic trials through the week after winning all three at Chester and both at Lingfield.
“Obviously, I was running her over the wrong trip, she wanted to go further,” said O’Brien.
“Saxon Warrior is doing very well and obviously they are middle-distance horses, a mile-and-a-quarter and Ben even said she’d get a mile-and-a-half. He gave her a very good ride.
“She ran well the last day, she kind of dropped out and then came back into it again. She stays very well obviously. She has a little bit of class and I’d say she loved the ground.
“All those races are open to her now, she’s in that picture now.”
Galveston (7-2) gave O’Brien his fourth winner of the meeting by beating favourite Heather under Lordan to land the Alto Equine Building Solutions Rated Race.
