Watch: €2.3 million buy Abraham Lincoln impresses on debut

Abraham Lincoln made a winning debut in the Keadeen Hotel Irish EBF Maiden at The Curragh on Friday.

The son of Wootton Bassett cost €2.3 million as a yearling and holds plenty of Group One entries, so it was no surprise that he was sent off the 11-8 favourite for his debut.

Never far from the pace under Ryan Moore, the brother to Highbury was pushed along to lead a furlong out and ran on well despite edging slightly left.

It was a 1-2-4 for trainer Aidan O'Brien, with Haffner shaping with lots of promise in a running-on second, and Man's Best Friend back in fourth behind the Ciaran Murphy-trained Jewel In A Crowd.

The winner was made a general 20-1 chance for next spring's 2000 Guineas.
