Our top tipster and pundit Dave Nevison has three best bets at Kempton Park on Wednesday evening - catch the meeting live on Racing TV!
7.15 Kempton: Al Khawssaa
Roger Varian’s filly might be one of few in this race who could be better than her mark and may well be just the sort of tricky ride that Silvestre de Sousa has always excelled on.
She looked a decent prospect when winning her maiden on the second of just two starts last season. However, she has certainly not been seen at her best so far this season.
Too much for an inexperienced 7lb claimer when fresh and keen for her reappearance, she then pulled once again and met trouble in running at a crucial part on her latest start.
She has been given a mid-season break and I am happy to take a chance on her, especially with the Varian yard in excellent nick. The hood for the first time will hopefully relax her into the race.
7.45 Kempton: A War Eagle
Ed Bethell sends just this one runner down to Kempton's Wednesday meeting and it looks noteworthy. A War Eagle is a well-related gelding who has progressed steadily this season and still looks capable of better.
The race he won recently, when a well backed favourite, quickly produced a couple of next time out winners and it looks decent form. He has subsequently finished second in another strong handicap at Hamilton.
He is well enough drawn in this and looked to act on the all-weather as a two-year-old, so I expect another good run from this consistent sort.
8.15 Kempton: Love You Back
Love You Back was 3lb out of the handicap when running creditably at Sandown last time out (winner gone in again since) and is able to run off his correct weight in this considerably lower grade race.
The likelihood of a strong pace will suit this bottom weight here and, with Luke Morris taking over from a 7lb claimer, I feel he has good chances of a place at least in a competitive event.
