2.20 Salisbury: My Boy Jack

My Boy Jack has been consistently missing the beak for the last couple of seasons (even under a fully fledged rider) but has run consistently well under today’s rider and this apprentices' contest might finally be the one where everything clicks.
Alfie Gee has ridden a couple of sprint winners for Adrian Nicholls recently, so is definitely capable of getting one home in front and was on board here in July when the gelding ran his best race of the season.
A stiff track suits this horse much better than Thirsk, where he ran well last time, and if he can just get going quicker, a win looks assured.

4.55 Beverley: Sunny Orange

Sunny Orange finished just behind my “cliff” horse Park Street when they met here recently, but he reared at the start and didn’t get the best of runs through the race and I feel Tim Easterby’s charge can reverse the form this time if he gets the breaks.
Duran Fentiman, who gets on well with him, is back on board and he has a 1lb pull with his rival which might also help.
Like many in this field, Sunny Orange runs often and usually quite well at Beverley, and although his two course wins have come over a furlong shorter, he looks as though he may well be ready for this slight step up in trip now.

7.45 Chelmsford: Dixieland Blues

Dixieland Blues has been dropped 5lb for his recent return to action and that might well be just the break he needs to land his first handicap.
The Crisfords' won a maiden at Southwell with him on the third of his three all-weather starts last season and he looked a promising type. However, he disappointed when he reappeared as a fancied 11-2 shot in a hot Heritage Handicap at Haydock back in May and was gelded and given a break after that.
He seems a safer proposition on an artificial surface and he should be able to settle well in a race set to be run at a strong pace.
