Right handed and very stiff with the final mile uphill. Punishing on testing ground, those who've expended too much energy early almost invariably failing to get home. Therefore, be wary of those who seem to be travelling strongly before the straight as the complexion can change quickly. The fences aren't overly stiff but the casualty rate is still fairly high because so many fall through tiredness, whilst the two downhill fences running away from the stands are tricky. It's not unknown for horses to falter on catching sight of the stable entrance on the run-in on the chase track. Will always be associated with being the stage for Tony McCoy's 4,000th career victory.

Towcester is a great track for a slow horse, and the ability to stay the trip is really crucial. It’s a massive and relentless pull from the bottom far corner, where the back straight ends, and up the hill to the winning post. If you’re not on horse that’s assured of getting the trip, it can seem like a nigh-on-impossible task and plenty don’t make it home. Equally if you get your fractions right and are sure of your horse’s stamina, you can take your time and do your best work at the end when things get tough for the early pace setters.
