Wuheida provided William Buick with his maiden Breeders’ Cup victory when the Godolphin representative powered to victory in the Filly & Mare Turf at Del Mar on Saturday.
The daughter of Dubawi and Hibaayeb, who was eighth in the Filly & Mare in 2010 had too much for Aidan O’Brien’s Rhododendron.
America has not been a happy hunting ground for Buick this season.
He suffered complications with his vertebra when he fell from the ill-fated Permian, who fractured a leg in August.
Buick was off for eight weeks, and on his return to America yesterday he lost an iron aboard Masar in the Juvenile Turf won by Mendelssohn.
Earlier on Saturday he was beaten by Ryan Moore and Declarationofpeace within sight of the post aboard Sound And Silence.
All came right, however, and Buick was always in the right place at the right time to record his first Breeders' Cup success on Charlie Appleby's runner.
"It is very special. It means everything to me," he said."

"I’ve had plenty of goes at it and it hasn’t been successful.
"Everybody at home is watching. It is a big team effort and thanks to everybody.
"Charlie has done a fantastic job with her. He I a great trainer and he has filled me with confidence. It is a game of ups and downs and as long as you have more ups and downs then you’re good."
Wuheida had not won since her victory on Arc day 13 months ago, but she had showed she was a hardy performer in some of Europe’s top races. She was entered to run in the QEII Stakes at Keeneland last month but suffered a foot problem and had been stabled at Del Mar for a fortnight.
Buick had his mount handy in third going in to the first turn and got a great response from his mount in the straight.
In contrast, Frankie Dettori found himself looking for room on the strong-travelling Queen's Trust as Sir Michael Stoute's four-year-old made her bid to repeat last year's success.
She finished with a real rattle but all too late, and it was the Aidan O'Brien-trained Rhododenron who proved the main threat to the winner
"I knew I had the filly in good order, and she has pleased me through the week,” Appleby said. “Running to the first turn I knew she was in the right position and William gave her a peach of a ride.

"It's great for my team, who have worked so hard, and His Highness (Sheikh Mohammed) for letting me bring her here."
Asked if the winner would stay in training, Appleby said: "She's obviously a very valuable filly now, so we will talk to Sheikh Mohammed about that."
O'Brien refused to blame Rhododendron's draw in stall 14 for defeat, saying: "No, there wasn't an advantage. She's run very well and I'm delighted with that. There are no excuses."
The race was run over a furlong shorter than 12 months ago and Stoute said of Queen's Trust: "She's run really well and was flying at the death, but we always knew the step back in distance would be a problem."
The 9-4 favourite Lady Eli was squeezed negotiating the first bend and possibly lost a shoe. Last year’s runner-up never looked happy under Irad Ortiz.
“She broke a little fast and was a little keen going to the first turn,” he said.
“She relaxed. I got a good trip and saved ground but I did not get the same kick.”
