The 80-1 shot was a first ride in the Aintree showpiece for Jack Foley and the duo were one of the first to rise at the opening fence which was ultimately the only obstacle they would jump in unison in the contest.
Although Recite A Prayer cleared it perfectly, Cloudy Glen on the eight-year-old’s outer was less proficient, sprawling on landing and crossing the Closutton inmate’s path in the process – subsequently knocking Foley out of the saddle.

Recite A Prayer continued to run loose with the remainder of the field until just before Valentine’s on the first circuit where the gelding leapt the inside running rail and made his way to the Aintree infield.
“Recite A Prayer fractured his eye socket,” said Mullins on Sunday afternoon.
“They have done a little procedure on him in the Equine Hospital in Liverpool and I just got news that everything is OK with him. He has a few little cuts and bruises, but nothing more.
“He got loose on the inside and had to pull up where all the barriers were. That’s something Aintree are going to have to look at.”
Mullins also reported all of the other Closutton National runners to be in full health following their exertions on Merseyside.
“Gaillard Du Mesnil ran a cracker yesterday and jumped well,” he continued.
“He was very tired after the race, but he is fine. The same goes for
Carefully Selected.
Capodanno pulled up after getting very tired, it was probably just the lack of a run.
Mr Incredible (pale blue, centre) jumps a fence during the Randox Grand National
“Mr Incredible was unlucky, his saddle slipped. I didn’t really get a chance to talk to Brian (Hayes, jockey) yet. It didn’t look like he was going great but that’s Mr Incredible, he never looks like he is going great until the business end.”
Similar, however, cannot be said for stable jockey Paul Townend who is set for a few days on the sidelines following a fall from the ill-fated Dark Raven in one the precursors to the big-race.
He added: “Paul is very sore. He is arm is very sore after his fall from Dark Raven yesterday. He is going to take a day or two off.”
Nicky Henderson’s Feel Gut made an impressive British debut at Warwick, so much so in fact he was cut to just 12-1 for the Triumph Hurdle in the process.
Sent off the 4-7 favourite in the Hazelton Mountford Insurance Brokers EBF Junior “National Hunt” Hurdle, Nico de Boinville decided to take no chances and made all the running.
Having allowed his pursuers to close in on turning for home, he soon quickened up and while there was a brief scare at the second-last when he jumped out of his rider’s hands, he came home a ready six and a half lengths clear.
Paddy Power went 12-1 from 33s for the Triumph at Cheltenham in March, while Coral inserted him at 20-1 for the juvenile championship.
Henderson said: “Nico said he’s quick, which is nice because he’s not fancy (at home). I was going to run him about a month ago and I was waiting for him to show me something!
“He’s a big baby with an enormous amount of scope and will jump a fence.
“Nico said no one wanted to go on and he’s a great jumper, so he got on with it and everyone is happy.
“We were a bit nervous because he doesn’t run around every morning saying ‘look at me’ but he’s just a really nice horse who jumps well.
“I don’t know if he’s in the mould of the others we’ve had for Joe like Shishkin, Sir Gino and Lulamba, with Sir Gino you could tell from day one, but that was nice to watch.”
He went on: “He could run in a novice hurdle next year as he’s still eligible. We could run in another ‘junior’ race, but the other option is to run him in something decent. We’ll have to have think about it. We can box clever.
“You might think Adonis or something like that. I’ve got other four-year-olds to come. He was second in Auteuil and he hasn’t actually lost his maiden, which is something to think about.”

Less than a year since an exciting debut win on the all-weather at Kempton Park by over eight lengths, Ghaiyyath colt Opera Ballo runs out a Group 1 winner and in fine style in the Jebel Hatta at Meydan under William Buick for trainer Charlie Appleby and Godolphin.
This exciting horse is not the finished article and even raced over-enthusiastically in the early stages of this contest, but that couldn't prevent an impressive success and one that strongly hints at further high-level exploits in Europe in 2026.
First up though is the small matter of the Group 1 Dubai Turf on World Cup night in Meydan in March!
