Wednesday tips: Dave Nevison's best bets on Racing TV

Anthony Honeyball’s lightly-raced gelding is dropped into a handicap for the first time here and looks the likely winner.

Matthias was only fifth on his latest start, beaten 13 and a half lengths over the minimum trip here, but the form is proving to be very strong. The runner-up has already won next time out and two horses who finished behind Mathias have also gone in since.

He was second behind the now 139-rated Quebecois in a Bumper at Exeter early in his career and, given that track is much stiffer than Wincanton, it seems pretty certain Matthias will be suited by this step up in trip.

Victory Shout was a 90-rated handicapper on the Flat, so it was probably no surprise that he would come good when dropped into a handicap hurdle off a rating not too dissimilar.

The money came for Syd Hosie’s gelding at Taunton last time out and the gelding didn’t let his supporters down. He looks well capable of winning again turned out quickly. He backed up his best Flat form with just a four-day gap on the level previously, so I have no qualms about his handicap mark.

The booking of Rossa Ryan for John Butler’s five-year-old definitely takes the eye, especially after Havana Touch returned to form out of the blue last time out.

A previous course winner, he had dropped down to his previous winning mark for that solid effort, but still looks capable of winning another race off just 2lb higher. A mile is his trip these days.
