The Irish Angle: Johnny Ward's four best bets on Sunday
By Johnny Ward
Last Updated: Sat 10 Oct 2026
Irish racing expert Johnny Ward bids to end the week on a high with four selections at Naas and Cork. Enjoy both meetings live on Racing TV.
2.30 Naas: Whosinterviewinwho
Written before Pink Venom ran in the Birdcatcher, it was likeable how much this colt found for pressure behind her at Cork and he looks primed for a big run with the stiff track to suit.
4.32 Cork: Cappa Hill
A trappy race with most hard to be confident about.
Local hope Cappa Hill has won twice, one of those wins at Cork, and he also finished fourth here in a maiden hurdle behind the high-class Pure Steel.
He is out of a winning pointer who was a close relative of the classy Gorgeous Tom. He has to have scope off 114 and his handicap debut when third at Listowel in quite a hot race can only stand him in good stead under the excellent Sam Ewing.

4.50 Naas: Espritroyale
She definitely had excuses on one of her last two starts, and makes plenty of appeal on either of the previous two, with Jared Huggan a highly-rated young Scottish rider.
5.25 Naas: Fratas
Plainly disappointing for this yard, especially if you backed her, but I feel she is worth another chance on this ground now dropped in distance.
