The day started with Jack Kennedy disconsolate after an early tumble from the previously unbeaten Envoi Allen and ended with the same jockey somehow winning on Mount Ida after trading at 999-1 in-running. Chantry House, Mrs Milner, The Shunter and Telmesomethingg were other winners for Lydia and Ruby to reflect on.

The Gold Cup had a lot to live up to after events of the previous three days but the meeting's showpiece delivered big time with stablemates Minella Indo and A Plus Tard fighting out the finish under the two jockeys of the meeting - Kennedy and Rachael Blackmore - for trainer Henry De Bromhead, who in the process became the first trainer to land the Champion Hurdle, Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup in the same year.

Quilixios, Belfast Banter, Vanillier, Colreevy and Galopin des Champs took Ireland's overall win haul to a remarkable 23, with Porlock Bay's short-head win in the Hunter preventing the deflated British suffering a blank.
